A charitable foundation to help people in need
People In Need - Gerhard Baumgard Stiftung - (PIN) is a non-profit, charitable organization to help socially disadvantaged persons to cope with difficult situations in life and improve their livelihood.
Our main focus is to support education, development and training of orphans and poor children and youth in Myanmar (Burma).
Other projects in Myanmar include support for
- HIV/AIDS patients
- Leprosy villages
- Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) as a result of civil war or natural disasters
We are volunteers and we work through local non-governmental and non-profit organizations such as Christian Churches and Buddhist monks, and local charities. Read more
With our projects we support children, orphans, girls and HIV/AIDS patients all across Burma. If you want to know about our work then read more
PIN started to work in Burma in 2003. Our experiences over the last eight years shows that it is difficult to steer clear of governmental influences and to protect the foundation's independence. Therefore, People In Need does not register with the Myanmar government. Instead we run our projects with local Burmese staff and together with local non-governmental organizations such as the Christian Churches, Buddhist monks and Burmese charities.
Currently, we explore opportunities to expand our activities in other Asian countries, such as Nepal and India.
